Close-up magic, also known as walk-around magic or micromagic, is a branch of magic performed right before the spectators' eyes.
Close-up magic uses small props such as playing cards, coins or even the spectators' own mobile phones…
Close-up magic mainly takes 3 forms:
Strolling cocktail close-up: the magician moves from group to group during a cocktail reception, going over to the guests as he pleases.
Cocktail close-up at a cheating table: the magician performs his tricks behind a fixed demonstration table and the spectators come to him.
And finally table-hopping close-up: the magician moves from table to table during a seated dinner.
A close-up magician may have one or several specialities: card magic, mentalism, comedy magic, digital magic…
On average, a close-up magician can amaze around fifty spectators per hour.
