Magicians & mentalists in Paris

We have been booking magicians in Paris and the Île-de-France region since 1994. The agency is based in Essonne, forty minutes from the capital: Paris is not an area we cover from a distance, it is where most of our work happens.

A local agency, not a national directory

L'Agence des Magiciens has existed since 1994. In thirty years we have staged more than 30,000 events for 12,000 clients, a large share of them in Paris and its region. We are not a platform that forwards your request to whoever answers first: we know every artist we propose personally, we have seen them perform, and some work exclusively with us.

For a Paris event this changes three things. You speak to someone who knows the capital’s venues and their constraints. You get an artist chosen for your specific evening, not the first name available in a database. And you keep the same contact from the first call to the get-out, which matters on the night the cocktail starts forty minutes late.

The quote is free, all-inclusive and sent within 24 hours: artist fee, social charges, travel and equipment are all in it. Nothing is added later. For an event in the Île-de-France region travel costs are marginal, and it is one of the rare places where we can offer a top-tier artist without logistics weighing on the budget.

Close-up, stage or mentalism: which format for a Paris evening?

Close-up magic is the most requested format in Paris, and rarely by accident. A cocktail in a private mansion in the Marais, a private view, a business dinner: guests arrive at scattered times, barely know each other, and stay on their feet. The magician moves from group to group, performs thirty centimetres from people’s faces, and does what no stage act can do at that moment — breaks the ice without ever interrupting the evening. Allow two hours of walk-around to cover 100 to 150 people comfortably.

A stage show answers a different need: bringing everyone together at the same moment. It is the highlight of a gala dinner, an awards ceremony or a convention. It requires real performing space, decent sound and a seated audience — three things to discuss with the venue before signing, because many beautiful Paris addresses have neither depth of stage nor a control position.

Mentalism has become the signature format for corporate events in the capital. It lends itself to bespoke work: revealing the name of a product being launched, making the figure announced by the chief executive ten minutes earlier appear, guessing what a guest wrote before the evening began. It is magic that talks about you, and it is what people mention again on Monday morning.

These formats are not mutually exclusive. The most effective combination for a classic Paris evening: close-up during the cocktail, then fifteen to twenty minutes of stage or mentalism at dessert. We advise you on that structure free of charge — it is in fact the most useful part of our job.

The constraints specific to Paris (and how we handle them)

Performing in Paris is not like performing elsewhere, and an artist unfamiliar with it finds out on the day. Access first: many Paris venues have no car park, sometimes no service lift, and a narrow delivery window. A grand illusion act needing an hour of set-up and a goods lift does not fit everywhere — better to know in advance than at 6 pm the night before.

Then noise. Prefectural orders and building regulations seriously restrict city-centre evenings, particularly on rooftops and river boats. Magic has a real advantage over a concert here: close-up produces no amplified sound at all, and a stage show works perfectly with light sound reinforcement. It is often the only entertainment possible in an inhabited building.

Space, finally. Paris reception rooms are beautiful but rarely large. We always choose the artist according to the real volume of the room: a mentalist and a close-up performer work in fifteen square metres, a levitation illusion does not. Send us a photo of the venue or its name and we will tell you what is feasible.

Our artists travel across Paris and the whole Île-de-France region

Our magicians perform in all twenty arrondissements and across the region: Hauts-de-Seine, Seine-Saint-Denis, Val-de-Marne, Yvelines, Essonne, Val-d’Oise and Seine-et-Marne. Neuilly, Boulogne, Levallois, Saint-Denis, Versailles, Saint-Germain-en-Laye, Marne-la-Vallée, Roissy and Orly are among our regular destinations.

Being based in Essonne, we can also handle late requests when a performer cancels: that is the advantage of a network of artists concentrated in one region. Call us on +33 1 60 12 36 56, seven days a week from 9 am to 8 pm. There is almost always a solution, even at a few days’ notice.

Frequently asked questions about hiring a magician in Paris

What we are asked most often for an event in the capital.

How much does a magician cost in Paris?

It depends on the format, the duration, the artist and the venue, and any published price grid would be misleading. We start from your budget instead and offer the best possible performance within it. The quote is free, all-inclusive and without surprises: fee, social charges, travel and equipment are all in it. For a Paris event travel costs are marginal, which works in your favour compared with a booking in the provinces.

Is there a travel surcharge for central Paris?

No. The agency is based in Essonne and most of our artists live in the region: Paris and its surroundings are our main area, not a billed exception. Travel is already included in the quote.

How far in advance should I book in Paris?

The earlier the better, especially for December, Saturdays in June and convention dates. That said, our concentration of artists in the Île-de-France region lets us answer last-minute requests: call +33 1 60 12 36 56, there is almost always a solution.

Which format suits a corporate cocktail in Paris?

Close-up, without hesitation. Guests are standing, arrive at scattered times and often barely know each other: a magician moving from group to group creates connection without interrupting the evening. Allow around two hours of walk-around for 100 to 150 people. Fifteen minutes of stage or mentalism at dessert complements it very well.

Our offices are small and the building is residential: is it feasible?

Yes, and it is precisely a case where magic is often the only possible entertainment. Close-up produces no amplified sound and works in fifteen square metres; a stage show runs with light sound reinforcement. We choose the artist according to the real volume of the room — send us a photo or the venue name.

Do you cover the suburbs and the whole Île-de-France region?

Yes, all twenty arrondissements and the seven departments of the region: Hauts-de-Seine, Seine-Saint-Denis, Val-de-Marne, Yvelines, Essonne, Val-d’Oise and Seine-et-Marne, including Roissy and Orly.

Do your magicians perform in English?

Yes. Several of our artists perform equally in French and English, which is essential for international head offices and Paris conventions. Mention it in your quote request and we will only propose bilingual artists.

Can the act be personalised with our brand?

Yes, and it is what leaves the strongest impression at a corporate event: making your logo appear, a trick built around the product you are launching, a message or figure revealed at the key moment. Mentalism lends itself to this particularly well. Allow one to two weeks’ notice for the creative work.
